Ever had one of those days when everything just doesn’t go quite to plan, have you ever encountered a week of crappy luck? It can be pretty shit right? For the month of May I seem to be copping crap after crap. Especially happening to those around me that I love, what’s the deal? Must’ve run over a chinaman or six, to quote my more senior (and slightly racist at times) relatives.

So everything has been on hold this month. I don’t write this post to garner sympathy. I’m just journalling, as I do, our stuff. There has been a tonne of little things going on this month, but there were two majors highlights to the month, herein known as Mayhem May.

Kicking off with our two little pooches passing away. I miss them more than I ever thought I could miss a pet, these two were my little shadows even more so than the kids. Both of them were adopted pooches, and I couldn’t rate adopted dogs higher. They were already house trained and good mannered dogs, they gave us so much adoration. Meggsie was blind but you wouldn’t have known it, she could find me anywhere. So unfair.

The kids took it very badly at the time. Henry (Future Dark Overlord) handled it with surprising maturity though. He instructed us on what to do, telling us we had to have a funeral and get a stone to place on top of the grave. Georgie wanted to carry a dead Meggsie to her little grave and Henry even wrote Chester a letter that he put in the grave with the dog. In his pre writing scribble, it apparently said: Dear Chester, you are gone forever, The End. :o

So I’d been moping about that for a little while, and then mothers day came along, and I enjoyed creations from the kids The very next day we get a call from the cops. This had happened…

My mother and eldest son were in that car. Did your heart just skip a few beats? Mine sure did, actually it kept skipping for about a week, every time I looked at my injured patients. The good news is despite rolling three times (man ford falcons are tough), being trapped in the car, one of them being airlifted to another town and both with suspected head injuries, they are getting better very quickly. Amazingly they didn’t break any bones, very bruised and cut up however. And very very lucky to be alive. Neither of them can recall what or how it happened, and may never remember. I don’t care what happened, I am just grateful they are still here.

So there you have it. This is why your email is unanswered, but I will get there I have lots of catch up posts to come for you all. Things can only get better now right?

Dear Drivers, I’d like to introduce you to a nifty little gadget. It’s a one of a kind, why didn’t anyone think of it before sort of invention that makes you wonder how you ever did without it before.

This innovation can save you hundreds or even thousands off your next smash repair bill, because the use of this fabulous little device can help you avoid a smash altogether. But what’s that I hear you say? You have so many buttons to push in your car already, you just don’t know how on earth you could coordinate using another one? Well I have exciting news for you, this device can be operated with just your pinkie! How effortless is that.I know what your thinking. Where can I obtain such a marvelous device? And just too excite you even more, for today only you can get two for the price of one. That’s right, one for the left and right side of your vehicle, and it can be fitted to any kind of vehicle.

But hold your horses, and put down that phone, because you’re not going to believe what I’m going to tell you next. If you have a vehicle then chances are you already own this amazing invention and didn’t know it! Head out to your car and hop in the drivers seat and take a look behind the steering wheel, can you see two levers (I know! Where on earth did they come from?! The sales guy never mentioned those things! Maybe they appeared in the last software update?) Push the lever down and you’ll see a flashing light on the dash (it’s ok it is supposed to do that) now hop out and check out the front and back of the car. How awesome are those matching flashing lights? Those lights are called indicators and let everyone know where you are going, and it is the done thing to use them when going around corners.

Right now indicators are totally on trend, and now that you’ve got your own fabulous flashing indicators you’ll be on your way in up to date style. Tell your friends, because everyone will want to know where you found yours.

Still not convinced? Then check out this amazing indicator action below, totally pimps my ride don’tcha think? And I just love to be seen accessorising

If you didn’t already know about it I’m on a diet, the Chocolate Diet to be exact. You can read about how it started here. I’ve been on a get fit plan since the start of the year, but injury got in the way and I stalled. Sitting up there in the top of the overweight range for my height, and somewhat startled because I really didn’t think I was that bad. I’ve managed (albeit very slowly) to lose ten kilos over the past year according to my little Wii Fit chart, and I still cannot fathom where I was holding all that weight. I really couldn’t. I really didn’t think I was that heavy, but don’t we all? So I started the Chocolate Diet at 75.3 kilos two weeks ago.

The Chocolate Diet has fitted in nicely with the school holidays for me as the minions are eating us out of house and home, my lunch soon gets stolen unless I can clutch it tightly in my fist. At the start I was feeling very tired, but got into the vitamin B and sorted that out, I haven’t been hungry on this diet either. I have tried a couple of other versions of diet shakes and have found that I am ravenous by 2pm, and neither brand tasted as good as this one. So I’ve managed to stay the course and the weight started to drop off nicely, that little hurdle in the middle is there because I went away and ate crap over the easter weekend and forgot to pack my shakes. I totally forgot, really

Here is how it works: The Chocolate Diet is a thoroughly researched, scientifically proven program that combines a scrumptious eating plan with our delicious Chocolate Diet Shakes to help you get your diet on track and your life back in control. Designed for quick results and tailored to your lifestyle you can use The Chocolate Diet Program for a short time if you just need to drop a few kilos, or you can use it for an extended time if you have a more significant weight loss goal. This Program Guide will explain exactly what to eat, when to eat and how much. All you need to do is follow the guide to achieve your desired results. You won’t go hungry. In fact, you’ll eat more often!

On The Chocolate Diet Program we recommend you eat six meals, rather than the usual three:

One meal will be more substantial, which we call your Main Meal Option, usually your dinner meal but you can swap with your lunch meal

Two meals will be Snack Meals Options

Two of your meals will be your Chocolate Diet Shakes

One meal will be your Chocolate Treat, preferably after dinner

In addition to the foods listed here you should aim to drink around two litres of water (6 – 8 glasses) each day. You can also have 2 – 3 cups of coffee or tea each day however avoid milky coffees like lattes or cappuccinos as they contain extra carbs.

Flexibility – The Key to Success The best thing is the daily program can be shuffled around to meet your lifestyle. For example, you may want to move your Dinner to Lunch and have a Chocolate Diet Shake at dinner. Or perhaps you may want to swap a Lighter Meal Option with a Shake of Main Meal. However your day pans out, you simply need to fit in your Main Meal, 2 Snack meals Options, 2 shakes, and your Chocolate Treat each day. In fact, you can substitute any of the Snack Meals Options or Main Meal Options with the equivalent meals listed on this website. We’ve designed The Chocolate Diet to fit into your lifestyle and family needs – not the other way round!

Now two weeks in I find myself a little further down the Wii chart, with a loss of 2.4 kilos! Yeah I’m pretty happy with that, and I’m continuing to go down. I’ve managed to add in some light exercise (can’t bounce just yet) trying to tone things up here and there.

The consultant from the Chocolate Diet was very encouraging during her weekly calls to me, and I even chatted to the creator of Dr Lily on facebook about the diet (you can do that too on Monday nights). Thanks again for asking me to be your test blogger Chocolate Diet, six more weeks to go!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: Last week I saw a fab pair of jeans on sale, there was only size 12 left. So I bought them and I decided that they would be my weight loss goal pants. Yesterday I decided to try them on, AND THEY FITTED!!! Size 12! I haven’t been that size since 1999

It seems I’m not the only one feeling a bit cynical about Light it up Blue for Autism today. Especially given the amount of money raised specifically just to light buildings with a blue light, AND doing so is apparently meant to make us autie parents feel better, less alone and the world better informed.

The autie mum in me is all for the Autism Awareness awareness campaign, I really am I WANT to be shaking that tambourine and I usually do. Last year we raised $600 for autism awareness, but as someone who is always desperately clawing for services seeing money obviously wasted shits me, especially such a large sum (40 grand if you haven’t clicked the links above) I think we can all come up with at least 20 services that the money could’ve been spent on. Wouldn’t it be fantastic to see such crowd sourced fundraising enthusiasm for other causes?

Autism awareness campaigns are necessary. I deal with ignorance from somebody every other day, and not just from strangers, friends and family too. Autism isolates families. However I have always felt the people that are unaware of what autism means for a family or child, are people that we don’t need to have in our lives.

Here is my symbol of Autism, my four autie babies I decided that they need a rainbow instead of being blue, because they’re anything but blue.

So while the parents of high functioning autie kids get to go to balls and dos tonight, sans kids because they CAN get someone to care for their child. I hope they spare a thought for us autie parents with kids on the other end of the spectrum, who are sitting at home with their non verbal and incontinent teenagers, scrubbing poop out of the carpet for the third time today. Put that on a flag and wave it.

If you wish to help out an organisation that provides services for Autism, head to ASPECT and check out their fundraising effort.

Some of you reading will disagree with me, and feel that the blue lights are important, and to those who hold that sentiment I have no doubt it is important. To you. I don’t take issue that awareness is not important, I just snapped at the cash wasted on brighter lights than those offered. That 40 grand could have sent a lot tired autie mums to a spa for the day… just saying

To all my friends who lit their facebook pages up blue, wore blue, shared awareness info, had blue lunches, and blue events today, lit their offices windows up blue tonight, I thank each and everyone of you for taking on the cause. Don’t let my crankiness dampen your enthusiasm, I am really grateful you care.

I will continue my autism awareness campaign right here on my blog, and hope that whatever I spew out into written words can help someone know that they really are not alone, because unlike a blue light you can reach out and contact me.
